5. Heavy-Duty Tubes or Mousse Bibs.
We couldn’t even begin to tell you how many guys we’ve gone on rides with who skimp on heavy-duty tubes. They’ll spend every nickel and dime on other bash-proof dirtbike accessories but leave wimpy stock tubes in their tires. Having a flat tire can be a real bummer when you’re out on the trail. We always pull the stock tubes out and upgrade to a heavy duty base tube on our personal bikes. STI, Michelin, Moose Racing and Bridgestone all make good off-road tubes for around 30-40 bucks. Buy ’em! You don’t want to be that guy that ends up changing two tubes in a day. Baja and desert riders out there may even want to invest in mousse bib-style tubes. These foam inserts will eliminate any chance of a flat. A good set of mousse bibs will last you six months if you lube them correctly, and they usually come with instructions on how to do that properly.
