10. 1979 Honda CR125 Elsinore
Don’t ask us why, but this particular ’79 Honda Elsinore just spoke to us. Maybe it’s because it’s such an oddity, released to the public with a 23-inch front wheel as standard, something Honda also tried with early XR models. There’s no question that 1980 was a much better year for Honda, which released the CR125 with a normal 21-inch front wheel and revised shock mounting position that helped it handle worlds better than the ’79. Still, if we could get it for a reasonable price, we’d raise our paddle for this one at Mecum, then salt it away in the corner of our collection, waiting for a chance to re-sell it and make a couple bucks.
Our Max Bid: $2900
The Mecum Antique and Classic Motorcycle Auction returns to Las Vegas, January 25-28. Here’s a dirty dozen for which we’d definitely raise our paddle.
