How have your preparations been going as you get ready for your first full [450cc] season?
Preparation has been going good. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the transition was to the bigger machine. Regardless of whether or not my off-season would warrant the kind of results I felt capable of, that doesn’t change either way once it comes time to race. Everything is all good. I had a good off-season–same old, same old, same as everyone else. I tried to ride, train and put in the time.

You had a pretty good Monster Energy Cup for not having had much time on the [KTM] bike. From October to January, where are you now and what have you improved on?
Obviously we’ve done a lot of riding between Monster Cup and now. i didn’t have a lot of time on the bike going to Monster Cup, but that was no excuse. These guys were going really fast, you know? I think that between then and now my speed has come around. We’ve got the bike really good. I’m actually really happy with it. I’m just looking forward to [racing] it. It is supposedly going to be a mudder, and I don’t mind the mud, because it calms a lot of nerves down of a lot of people going into the first round. I think we are in a good spot with my bike for sure.
