KTM’s four-stroke line doesn’t have a whole lot left to prove, but the Austrian firm rarely stops making improvements to its motorcycles.
With numerous world and U.S. national off-road championships added to its trophy case in 2015, the Orange Brigade is back as strong as ever with a familiar line of four-stroke woods and desert rockets that feature subtle changes intended to keep them one step ahead of their rivals.
The 2016 KTM 250 XCF-W, 350 XCF-W, 450 XC-W and 500 XC-W boast many of the same updates. In the chassis department, they all receive a new front axle that is reduced in size from 26 mm to 22 mm to shed unsprung weight and offer better front end feel. Stability has also been addressed by moving the axle from 35mm to 33mm to increase trail.
All of the above models receive KTM’s New open design fork protectors that are said to offer easier cleaning of the fork lower while providing the same amount of protection, and they also get the added security of a new skid plate protects the lower frame tubes.
Cosmetically, the off-road models get a new orange anodized rear sprocket and a new orange plastic light/numberplate unit, replacing the white unit on the 2015 models. There’s also a new seat cover with Selle Dalla Valle logo and a new WP decal on front fork upper.
