New limited-edition, special-order-only Montesa Cota 300RR model joins improved Cota 4RT260 in Honda’s trials bike line.
American Honda today announced the upcoming release of a brand-new trials motorcycle, the Montesa Cota 300RR.
The Cota 300RR joins an improved Cota 4RT260 in Honda’s stable of Montesa trials models. Produced entirely at the Honda-owned Montesa factory in Barcelona, Spain, the Cota 300RR, Honda say, is a limited-edition, state-of-the-art trials machine that is capable of success at the highest level.
Lee Edmunds, Manager of Motorcycle Marketing Communications at American Honda, said that the company is excited to expand its trials lineup by bringing the brand-new Montesa Cota 300RR to American customers.
“Montesa’s Honda-powered four-stroke Cota models have long ruled both the outdoor and indoor World Trials Championships, and this light, powerful, agile new motorcycle is already enjoying success in international competition,” Edmunds said. “With the Cota 300RR, riders will be ready to tackle the most challenging sections.”
Compared to the Cota 4RT260, the Cota 300RR’s redesigned 288cc engine has a longer stroke and larger bore, resulting in increased power and torque across the range. Its programmable ECU allows fine-tuning for varying weather and terrain conditions. The Cora 300RR boasts the liberal use of lightweight components such as a titanium header pipe and aluminum fork, to reduce weight by over four pounds compared to previous Montesa models. Up front, a four-piston monoblock caliper brake is standard, as are wheels with aluminum D.I.D rims and black-anodized aluminum hubs.
MSRP for the 2016 Montesa Cota 300RR has been set at $9999, but you can’t just run off to your local Honda dealer and find one on the showroom floor. The 2016 Montesa Cota 4RT260 and 300RR are both limited-edition models and are only available via a special ordering process. Orders for the Cota 300RR may be placed beginning July 1. (Orders for the Montesa Cota 4RT260 are already open.)
