Portuguese dirtbike manufacturer AJP continues to remain aggressive in its quest to produce lower-cost yet competitive off-road machines, and the company has added two new models to its line-up for 2017, the PR4 Extreme 240 and the PR5 Extreme 250.
2017 AJP PR4 Extreme 240, $5995
The air-cooled PR4 Extreme 240 is based on AJP’s PR4 platform, but the company says that the Extreme offers several upgrades to make it more powerful, lighter, better-suspended and to give it better braking.
The list of changes to the PR4 Extreme 240 includes:
-Belparts Exhaust – “bomb” style header and a free flowing muffler increase power at all rpm
-Shorai lithium battery – saves almost 4 lbs. in weight
-Reikon tapered handlebars – save weight and are claimed to give the bike a better feel
-Upgraded Sachs 48mm forks – now the same fork as on the PR5 Extreme, fully adjustable
-Galfer brake rotors – scalloped wave rotors front and rear are claimed to offer better braking in all conditions.
-Factory foot pegs – Billet Aluminum RED foot pegs save weight
-New Candy Red Metallic color – for frame, subframe, front and rear hubs
-Michelin S12 XC tires – fitted standard front & rear, better performance in all conditions

-BrakTec hydraulic clutch – offers easier lever pull, plus consistent actuation point

The AJP PR3 Enduro 240 also returns with a few updates, including a new 16-inch rear wheel, which is 1-inch smaller than the previous 17-inch rear wheel and allows for a larger selection of tire choices. Speaking of tires, the PR3 Enduro 240 also receives new Michelin Starcross MS3 tires front and rear. The PR3 Enduro 240 also comes with a lowering link for the rear suspension. The lowering link allows the seat height to be lowered by 1 inch.
2017 AJP PR4 Enduro 240, $4995
The PR4 Enduro is back for 2017 with minimal changes, including new Michelin S12 XC tires front and rear. PR4 Enduro 240 owners will also receive the accessory lowering link which allows the owner to lower the PR4 seat height by 1 full inch.
2017 PR5 Enduro 250, $6199
The highest-performance bike in the AJP lineup prior to the new PR5 Extreme 250, the liquid-cooled PR5 returns for 2017 with new Michelin S12 XC tires front and rear.
