The following is from Bajarallymoto.com, organizers of the Baja Rally:
ENSENADA, BAJA CA, MEXICO–Bajarallymoto.com quietly announced the opening of “Pre-Season” discounted entries on December 1. The Baja Rally 2017 edition is slated for October 9-14 which is a Monday – Saturday event staging and ending at Nico Saad’s San Nicolas Hotel & Casino here in Ensenada. The fastest growing rally competition in Mexico doubled in size from the prior year and surpassed the 2016 Baja 1000 for total number of motorcycle entries.
As normal, Baja Rally opens a narrow window for early planners to capitalize on deeply discounted entry fees during the final month of the preceding year’s edition. Returning riders who have previously started any prior Baja Rally event save as much as 40% off a standard entry fee and there is no limit. During the first week of December, 100% of the entrants are returning from 2016, something on which the organization prides itself.
“It’s a clear signal that our existing base of racing clients want to return again,” Baja Rally General Director Scotty “Breauxman” Bloom said. “These are our bread and butter racers, and they validate our organization by signing up for more of what we do best: making unforgettable and challenging stage routes to showcase the beauty and magic of this great state.”
Bloom said that Baja Rally received its best rider feedback ever for the event’s Safety and Medical Protocol which enlists the services of the rally’s proprietary Moto-Medics Team, a group of elite medical and EMT staff who ride GIANT LOOP outfitted dirtbikes as roving sweepers connected via communications to medi-vac helicopter dispatchers.
“We literally had more than a dozen riders, including a four-time Dakar entrant specifically tell us they have never felt safer in any motorcycle competition on any continent,” Medical Director Patrick Attardo, RN, said. “We have to commend our team of aircraft pilots, fueling staff, EMT’s and Moto-Medics for executing an unprecedented mission. There were no serious injuries, but the minor incidents were attended to more promptly than anything we have ever scene in Mexico”.
