Fox Racing made our 6 Best DirtBike Helmets list because it really stepped up its V3 helmet for 2018 by introducing an innovation that is intended to significantly reduce visor-related injuries. Fox’s patent-pending Magnetic Visor Release System (MVRS) does away with the visor screws that are commonplace on off-road helmets and replaces them with magnets that allow the visor to easily break away in a crash. Fox has also introduced a fourth helmet shell and EPS liner in size Medium to offer consumers more comfortable fit options.
The V3 helmet is equipped with Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) technology, which adds a low-friction layer between the helmet and the head for a reduction in rotational impacts transmitted through the helmet to the rider’s head during angled impacts. Heat management is handled via 14 intake and four exhaust vents that route air through the helmet and evacuate hot air. Fox’s DriLex comfort liner is designed to be soft on the skin and to wick away sweat and moisture. The VX3 meets or exceeds ECE22.05 and DOT certification standards.
