Arai has been at the forefront of off-road helmet safety for decades, and its VX-Pro4 is the pinnacle of the company’s know-how when it comes to off-road head protection. Each VX-Pro4 shell is hand-laid to Arai’s exacting standards, using the company’s pioneering complex Laminate construction (cLc) to maintain Arai’s R75 shape concept, which creates a 75mm radius for the roundest, smoothest shell possible, according to Arai.
The shell material is made of Arai’s proprietary Super Fiber, which costs six times more than standard fiberglass but is claimed to provide 30% higher tensile strength and increased penetration resistance. The VX-Pro4 also features Arai’s proprietary EPS liner, which is made up of multiple cells of different densities within the same one-piece liner to disperse impact energy that passes through the shell. Each cell is a sort of helper to the cells around it. As one EPS cell is crushed under impact, the surrounding cells also absorb some of that energy.
Other VX-Pro4 features include a uniquely rounded chin bar that is designed to protrude excessively so that the helmet remains as round as possible, a removable, washable Dry-Cool liner and cheek pads utilizing Arai’s triple-density foam construction, a comprehensive ventilation system that makes the VX-Pro4 the most ventilated helmet Arai has ever produced.
