With the adventure segment of off-road riding remaining red hot, it was no surprise that Yamaha unveiled its T7 concept adventure bike, which is powered by the same parallel twin that Yamaha uses in its MT-07 and FZ-07 streetbikes.

Yamaha-T7-Concept-C-11-07-2016Perhaps a replacement for the XT600Z Ténéré, the T7’s 270-degree parallel-twin engine is cradled by an all-new chassis that is clearly designed to be more off-road worthy than the heavyweight Super Ténéré-think more along the lines of the BMW F 800 GS than the R 1200 GS. The concept machine features an aluminum fuel tank, LED headlights, KYB suspension, a carbon fiber fairing and skid plate, and a an Akrapovic exhaust.

Expect most of these items to use less exotic materials if the machine ever makes it to the production stage, something that is strongly being speculated for as early as 2018. That wouldn’t be. That wouldn’t be much of a stretch, as the T7 is already a runner rather than just a mock-up. It is currently being developed in conjunction with the Official Rally Team in France.
