CORONA, Calif. (April 27, 2017)–Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy and Adam Cianciarulo are back for the penultimate round of the Eastern Regional 250SX class at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Savatgy will continue his efforts to earn his first title, sitting six points ahead of second place in the standings. Cianciarulo looks to bounce back from his sixth-place finish in St. Louis and return to the podium this weekend during a unique day race just across the river from New York City.
Entering Round 8, Savatgy is riding a four-race streak of runner-up finishes, a streak he would like to improve on this weekend. With only two races remaining, Savatgy is not only looking for another win, he’s focused on maintaining the points lead to try and add to the team’s championship count this season.
“This weekend I’ll be focusing on minimizing mistakes and riding smart,” said Savatgy. “The track in New Jersey has been known for being tough. With tracks like that, the start is so important, something we’ve continued to work on while we had a short break. I’m so pumped that Justin (Hill) was able to earn the title on the west and I’ll be focused on doing my part for the team in the east.”
So far Cianciarulo has had a bit of a roller coaster season, with a win and two additional podium finishes to his credit. He is consistently showcasing his speed and looks to put it all together in New Jersey.
“We’ve had a good couple weeks off while we waited for these final two races,” said Cianciarulo. “I’m pretty eager to get back behind the gate and prove that I’m not just able to win on a motocross-style track this season. Like Daytona, it will be another outdoor race, which will be fun.”
Savatgy and Cianciarulo will be signing autographs at Motorcycle Mall in Belleville, New Jersey on Friday, April 28 from 6-7 p.m. The broadcast for the race will be on the FOX Network starting at 5 p.m. EDT.
