Muscle Milk Honda’s Justin Barcia will be out for the rest of the season while recuperating from an ankle injury.
According to a press release issued by his team Team Honda Muscle Milk’s Justin Barcia underwent surgery yesterday to repair an ankle injury and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series. Barcia’s expected recovery time will be approximately four to six months, and will require extensive physical therapy.
Barcia finished fifth in the 2014 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series points standings, but his outdoor season had gotten off to a rocky start at the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship opener after a mechanical DNF ruined his chances for a good finish. Barcia rebounded to finish fifth overall in round two at Hangtown, but the ankle injury forced him to miss round three at Thunder Valley MX Park in Colorado last weekend.
“It is an unfortunate situation and we are really bummed for Justin,” Honda Team Manager Dan Betley said. “He was riding well at the first two rounds and building momentum each time he was on the bike. We were looking forward to a successful season with him. Our best wishes go out to Justin and we hope for a speedy recovery.”
