Robby Bell Gets on roll early in the 2015 WORCS season.
Precision Concepts Kawasaki’s Robby Bell proved that his opening round win was no fluke when he rolled to his second Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) win at Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino in Primm, Nevada, today.
Primm always presents a unique situation for the pros, as the Pro Motorcycle and ATV classes share portions of the course during the race, but Bell wasn’t bothered by the four wheelers. In rather uncharacteristic fashion, he fired his Kawasaki KX450F on the first kick and roared away from the dead-engine start with the holeshot. Bell pulled away from Eric Yorba, who later yielded to defending WORCS Champion Gary Sutherlin. Bell was never challenged in the race, and he crossed the finish line comfortably ahead of KTM-backed Sutherlin and Precision Concepts’ Justin Seeds.
Bell’s back-to-back wins mark the best WORCS season start of his career.
“This year, the biggest thing for me was coming into the season healthy, and I’ve started off with two wins,” Bell said. “It has allowed me to ride more to my potential, and it has been really fun so far, and hopefully I can keep that momentum as well with the win streak.”
KTM’s Sutherlin had to work his way past several racers before he moved into the second spot at the midway point of the race. He was unable challenge Bell for the lead, however, and he finished second for the second race this season.
Seeds mounted a charge in the final laps of the race, moving up from sixth to third place in the final laps of the race with a pass on Hinson/Honda-backed Justin Jones to claim the final spot on the podium.
In the Pro 2 class, Dalton Shirey grabbed the early lead and pulled the fastest lap time in the class en route to the win. Shirey finished nearly three minutes ahead runner-up Starr Savage. Round one winner, Michael Del Fante, wasn’t able to get his motorcycle started on the line and struggled early on in the race before mounting a charge to claim the final spot on the Pro 2 podium. Mitch Anderson claimed the Pro 2 Lites win, ahead of Noah Kepple and Brady Hoover rounded out Pro 2 Lites class podium.
Round three of the 2015 Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series takes place at Canyon Motocross in Peoria, Arizona, February 27.
