Hooray, hooray, we get to watch Trey!
Team Honda HRC has announced that Trey Canard has finally recovered fully from his arm injury and will contest the 450cc class during round nine of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship this weekend in Washougal, Washington.
Canard, who has been out of action since April while working to rebound from a serious arm injury sustained in a horrific (it seems as if they’re the only kind in which he knows how to be involved) at the Detroit Supercross, has finally been cleared by his doctor and is scheduled to compete in the remaining rounds of the Lucas Oil 450cc Pro Motocross Championship. Obviously, the title is way out of the question, but Canard could make things interesting if he can get up to speed, challenge established top dogs such as Ryan Dungey, Justin Barcia and Ken Roczen for moto wins and/or spoil some of their chances to collect maximum points.
Regardless, the Oklahoma native said that he is eager to get back on the track.
“I’m really excited to be returning to the starting gate and racing with all these guys each weekend,” Canard said. “I don’t have any set expectations for my return except to do my best, give 100% effort, ride within my limits and enjoy doing what I love. Things have gone smoothly since I started riding again. The Honda team was out at my house testing a few weeks ago, and I feel like they really did their homework while I was out. They’ve brought an amazing bike together, and I can’t wait to race it!”
Team Honda HRC Manager Dan Betley said that Canard’s return has been long-anticipated by the HRC squad.
“Trey has made a great deal of progress in a short period of time since getting back on his bike, and he showed a lot of speed while we were out at his house testing,” Betley said. “He’s an incredibly focused and determined racer, and I don’t think it’ll be long before he’s mixing it up with the frontrunners.”
