Michelin launches new Anakee Wild dual-sport tires.
Michelin has announced the availability of its newest motorcycle tire, the Anakee Wild for Dual-Sport use.
Michelin says the Anakee Wild is a radial tire designed for heavyweight adventure bikes meant for both on- and off-road use. Initially the tire will launch with four radial sizes, two front and two rear. The front tires are available in sizes 110/80 R 19 and 120/70 R19, and the rear tires are available in sizes 150/70 R 17 and 170/60 R 17. BMW R 1200 GS owners will note that these are the correct sizes for fitment on the R 1200 GS.
The Anakee Wild was designed to adapt to all terrain types and situations, as well as the most varied climates. Michelin says that the mission of its development engineers was to combine three performance characteristics: on-road stability and comfort; resistance to overheating and wear; and increased wet-road and off-road traction. To achieve these goals, the Anakee Wild features a new tread design with what the company considers the optimum tread depth. The tread block design was inspired by Michelin’s desert tires, which have won the Dakar Rally 33 times. Additionally, the tire is the first radial made available on four different sizes of knobby tires. You can view technical details on the tires in the Michelin video below.
The Anakee Wild design is also based on testing feesback from T3 Aventure, a company that specializes in extreme treks around the world. Michelin says that T3 Aventure tested these tires on four contiinents; travelling nearly 25,000 miles on BMW R 1200 GS bikes with temperature variations of nearly 100 degrees both on the road and on extreme off-road terrain.
The Michelin Anakee Wild will be available worldwide in March. MSRP has not yet been announced. For more information, visit http://motorcycle.michelinman.com/.
