Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Alex Martin announced to the supercross world that he will not be in competition at round seven of the 2017 Monster Energy AMA 250SX East Supercross Series at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri, this weekend, due to an injury that he suffered during qualifying at the previous round, the 2017 Detroit Supercross, Michigan, last weekend.
“Unfortunately, due to injuries sustained from the practice incident in Detroit, I will be sitting out St Louis this weekend,” Martin posted on his Twitter account on March 27. “Really disappointed for it to happen this way, but I can’t thank the team and sponsors enough for the support this season!”
Martin had a run-in with GEICO/Honda’s Christian Craig in Detroit and was forced to the sidelines for the night. The inability to garner points dropped him from sixth place to eighth place in the 2017 Monster Energy AMA 250SX Series point standings. His return to the series is unlikely. Martin is expected to heal in time for the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship opener, the Hangtown Motocross Classic at Prairie City SVRA near Sacramento, California, on May 20.
