Robby Bell wins second straight WORCS race during round two at Primm, Nevada.
Rocky Mountain ATV/MC/Precision Concepts’ Robby Bell landed his second consecutive victory in Pro class during round two of the Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series presented by Maxxis and Dirt Bike at the Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino in Primm, Nevada, Sunday. Dalton Shirey finished second spot, and reigning Baja 1000 Champion Colton Udall to round out the WORCS Pro podium.
The race featured a shortened course that was extremely rough and took its toll on some of the contenders. Blayne Thompson took the early lead after Justin Seeds nabbed the holeshot, but both riders crashed, handing the lead to Bell, who ran seventh at the start. Bell and Justin Jones then waged a battle for the lead before Jones crashed out of the race near the halfway point in the race.
Dalton Shirey was the next rider to try and run down Bell, but Shirey couldn’t make a dent in Bell’s lead and elected to back off the pace and secure the runner-up finish. Bell went on to win by a comfortable margin.
“This is a great start to the year, but it’s a long season and it’s about maintaining the effort every weekend,” Bell said.
Eric Yorba was third, nearly 30 seconds ahead of Udall on the white flag lap, but Yorba ran out of gas and dropped back to sixth place. Udall finished third, ahead of Justin Wallis and Michael Del Fante.
Travis Damon was the man to beat in the Pro2 class, taking the win ahead of Logan Chambers and Alex Dorsey.
“I didn’t get too great of a start, so I had to set a great pace,” Damon said. “I had trouble getting my pace back after I pitted, but I kept a straight and kept going for it. The course was gnarly, but there were good lines and it smoothed out through the weekend.”
Dante Oliveira won his second straight Pro 2 Lites, race ahead of Austin Serpa and Clayton Hengeveld.
“I got the holeshot and stayed out front the whole time,” Oliveira said. “The course was brutal. The wind really picked up at the end and it was scary on the Trophy Truck track over those rollers.”
Round 3 of the Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series presented by Maxxis and Dirt Bike is scheduled to take place at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, February 26-28. The event will feature a special race format.
