2. Yamaha PW50
We could have selected the Yamaha TT-R50E for our best dirt bikes for kids list, but when we think of Yamaha minis, the first kid’s model comes to mind is the Yamaha PW50. The longest-lived model on our list, the PW50 has been around since 1981, and it has probably been the first ride of more professional racers than any other bike here as well.
The PW50’s air-cooled 49cc two-stroke engine boasts an oil-injection system that eliminates the hassle of premixing fuel, and its single-speed transmission and automatic clutch make the PW a gas-it-and-go proposition for beginners. The PW50 also features a unique-for-this-group shaft drive, which means no worries about keeping a drive chain adjusted. Its diminutive 18.7-inch seat height and claimed weight of 90 lbs. make the PW50 a great choice for kids in the 3-to-5-year-old age bracket.
