4. Zero DS
If you’re more of an adventure-riding type than a hard-core off-road rider, the Zero DS/DSR models are about as close as you can get to an electric dirt bike designed for such activities. Zero claims that the Z-Force motor and battery pack in the DS produces 116 lb.-ft. of torque with the highest battery density in the industry. Zero offers two DS models, the DS ZF7.2 offers a range claimed range of 82 city miles or 39 highway miles while the DS ZF13.0 offers a range of 147 city miles or 70 highway miles—plenty of range to get you out and back if you live close to your favorite riding area. And with Zero’s optional Power Tank, the DSR is capable of up to 188 city miles city or 89 miles highway. The Zero DS starts at $10,995. The Zero DS is cool, but Zero builds an even more trail-worthy electric dirt bike model. Read on.
