Factory FMF/KTM rider Charlie Mullins made it two wins in the first two rounds of the Kenda AMA National Enduro Series after earning the overall win at round two, the Concho National Enduro, at Texana Ranch in Blackwell, Texas, today.

Mullins proved that he is just as capable in the dry, dusty and rocky conditions that were prevalent at Texana Ranch as he is in the mud that he has experienced at the first two rounds ot the 2014 AMSOIL GNCC Series. He was the fastest rider through the first two special tests, forging and an early lead, only to get lost in the third special test section. Mullins was assessed a one-minute penalty after the other riders came in and the promoter realized that Mullins’ time was off.

Things didn’t turn around in the fourth test, as Mullins suffered a low-speed crash and injured his hip on a rock. He recovered from the crash but was unable to turn the fastest time in that section as well. Mullins then seemed to get his rhythm back, and he went on to win the final two special test sections to claim the overall win with a 1-minute, 24-second second lead over teammate Grant Baylor. In fact, KTM or its new sister brand, Husqvarna, which currently rely heavily on KTM engineering, claimed nine of the top-10 positions at the Concho Enduro.

Fresh off of his GNCC XC2 Pro Lites win last weekend, Baylor came out swinging once again and turned fast test times throughout the day. He was able to finish second overall, coming 25 seconds ahead of Bel Ray Husqvarna’s Andrew DeLong. KR4 Performance Arrive-n-Ride KTM’s Shane Hufford was fourth overall, and AirGroup Racing Husqvarna’s Nick Fahringer was fifth overall.

Factory FMF/KTM teammates Steward Baylor and Mike Lafferty struggled on the Concho course. Baylor’s unfamiliarity with Texas terrain cost him early in the day, but he adapted well and managed to finish sixth overall. Lafferty finished right behind Baylor but was dropped from seventh place to eighth place, behind Maxxis/KLIM/DirtWise KTM’s Jesse Groemm due to a tiebreaker that went Groemm’s way.
