CST
Established in 1967, CST—or Cheng Shin—is the ninth largest tire manufacturer in the world, and if you grew up riding bicycles and minis, chances are good that you are familiar with the name. CST tires are distributed in more than 150 countries, and the brand covers a wide range of market segments, including bicycles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, automobiles, trucks, forklifts, agricultural and lawn and garden equipment.
CST’s latest dirtbike tire design is the Legion MX-VI, which is claimed to feature an innovative tread pattern designed for dominance in the sport of motocross. The Legion MX-VI’s long, varied tread pitches are designed for good grip in intermediate soil conditions. CST engineers also worked to optimize the Legion MX-VI’s profile for a smooth transition to the shoulder through turns, and its carcass is constructed to eliminate tire roll (folding) under heavy braking and in corners. The Legion MX-VI rear tire’s center tread knobs are designed to claw forward and clean out, while its more tightly spaced shoulder knobs are designed to give a stable, tractable feel when leaned over. The front tire also features uniquely shaped shoulder knobs for better braking performance.
CST makes its Legion Desert (CM715/CM716) dirtbike tires for off-road/desert racing. CST’s C7221/C7222 models feature a tread design for intermediate and hard-pack MX and off-road terrain, while the C7211/C7212 carries the company’s soft terrain tread design and the Grand Prix C7202/C7203 are for hard terrain. Cheng Shin also features numerous models for trials, dual-sport and adventure motorcycles.
