Öhlins has long been a leader in aftermarket suspension components, and the Swedish company’s TTX44 Mark II shock absorber is almost like buying a works shock directly from your favorite factory race team. The gorgeous-looking TTX44 Mark II features Öhlins twin tube design, which uses separate circuits for compression and rebound damping. The TTX technology eliminates the risk of oil cavitation risk during use. The Mark II features improved compression and rebound adjusters and a new three-level high-speed compression adjuster along with a redesigned piston rod bleed valve that is intended to improve oil flow on both the compression and rebound side. The rebound side check valve has also been moved to the bottom the cylinder tube, and it is claimed to function better because its relocation means that a smaller amount of oil is pressurized during the rebound stroke. The TTX44 Mk II is serviceable and rebuildable like all Öhlins shock absorbers, and it can be upgraded with a dual spring kit and with a racing kit. The racing kit includes a new piston and piston ring. Having this shock is almost like adoring your dirtbike with a piece of art—it’s almost too pretty to get dirty.
