Michelin practically owns the trials tire market, but it may not be the first tire an off-road or motocross rider asks for when it comes time to replace worn out knobbies. Developed for mixed/dry conditions, Michelin’s M12 XC Intermediate tires feature massive knobs designed to resist tearing on hardpack surfaces while the knob pattern itself is designed to enhance traction in loose dirt. Michelin claims that the M12 XC’s sidewalls are rigid in order to deliver superb feedback to the rider, and the tires feature a new high-wear compound that Michelin claims will extend the life of the tire 25 percent longer than the previous-generation M12. The M12 XC’s are available in popular 18-inch and 19-inch sizes for the rear and in size 90/90-21 and 80/100-21 for the front.
