Kawasaki-mounted Kylie Fasnacht swept to 1-1 moto wins at the JS7 Spring Championship WMX at Freestone County Raceway in Wortham, Texas, Sunday, March 21.

The Team Green-backed Fasnacht excelled on a course that was muddied by heavy rains, causing the circuit to be shortened by almost one half distance. in moto one, defending WMX National Champion Marissa Markelon snagged the early lead over her teammate, Fasnacht, and at one point Markelon held an 18-second lead in the race. That changed rapidly, however, when Markelon collided with a lapper and crashed.

Fasnacht took control and rode to an easy moto win after Markelon crashed. Markelon salvaged a solid second place, with Yamaha’s Mackenzie Tricker finishing third. Kawasaki-mounted Brinsley Dyess was fourth, while Honda’s Tarah Gieger completed the top five finishers.

In the second moto, Tricker grabbed the holeshot ahead of Fasnacht and Markelon. Fasnacht was quickly able to take the lead away from Tricker and then hold off a strong challenge from Markelon to take the second moto win of the day and clinch the overall win in decisve fashion.

Fasnacht’s win marked her second sweep in as many rounds, and she now holds the championship points lead with a perfect score of 100 points. Markelon is second with 84 points, and Tricker sits eight points back in third.
