Gas Gas has announced the signing of three-time World Enduro Champion Christophe Nambotin and two-time World Enduro Champion Daniel McCanney to its factory enduro team.
The 33-year-old Nambotin of France will compete in the EnduroGP and E3 World Championship categories aboard a factory Gas Gas EC 300, and he will also contest the French enduro series. His contract will run for the 2018 and 2019 enduro seasons.
Nambotin’s new Gas Gas deal marks a return to the factory where he began his professional career.
“I’m going back to my roots,” Nambotin said. “I’m returning to Gas Gas, the brand I will compete for during the next two years in the EnduroGP World Championship and in the French E3 Championship on the new Gas Gas EC 300 two-stroke, a motorcycle that has already proved to be enormously competitive in its first year. I am very happy to have come home and embark on a new sports adventure with the team that saw how I took my first steps in the GPs and the World Championship. For my part, I will do everything possible to share all my experience with them and together we can fight for new titles.”
McCanney, 26, from the Isle of Man, has also signed a two-year deal with Gas Gas to contest the SuperEnduro World Championship and EnduroGP. The contract also marks a return to a team with which he contested the first international races of his career. McCanney will also compete in the SuperEnduro World Cup beginning on December 9 in Krakow, Poland, before beginning another world title chase at the EnduroGP of Finland on March 17, 2018. McCanney will ride the new Gas Gas EnduroGP machine as he guns for another title.
McCanney has already netted two world titles in his burgeoning career. He won the SuperEnduro Junior World Championship with Gas Gas in 2013 before moving on and winning the 2014 Enduro Junior World Championship.
