Nick Burson and Jacob Argubright each emerged victorious when the Huntington Beach Motorcycle Club (HBMC) hosted a two-day Dual European Scramble at the world famous Slash X Ranch in Barstow, California, March 11-12.
The hot and sunny weather made for a dry and dusty HBMC course, typical of Barstow, the rocky and technical racing did not disappoint. Day 1, Race 1, Marissa Honeyman took the overall win for the Womens class! With a repeat in Day 2, she earned herself the Womens two-day verall award! Laci and Brooke Olivas competed in their first adult race in the Womens class with Argubright and Ryan Smith as their chase riders. Older sister Taylor placced first overall in the Women Amateur class on Day 2, making a good weekend for the Olivas girls.
In Race 1 for the Pro/Exp./Int. riders, Nick Burson took first overall, with Argubright in a close second, and last year’s District 37 overall Heavyweight Champion, Smith in third. Burson and Argubright took a nice lead on their class with Paul Krause (LWT 2) in 4th creeping up on Smith. Paul Krause had an awesome weekend of racing, taking 1st overall in two classes on both days!
Saturday was also round two of the Youth Desert Series! SuperMini, Bradley East took first overall. Clayton Roberts held the lead in the first lap until a crash slowed him down, allowing East to catch him. East ended up with a huge lead on his class, taking his second consecutive overall win in the Youth Desert Series. Andrew Schulz took a first in his class in the youth race, ripping through the desert and coming close to the older guys.
During Day 2, in the Pro/Exp./Int. race, Argubright got the holeshot and finished first overall with Nick Burson less than 1 minute behind in second. Smith was third.
