Among the tasty concept motorcycles that were unveiled at EICMA 2016 in Milan, Italy, this week, was this beauty, Honda’s Africa Twin Enduro Sports Concept.

Created by Honda R&D Europe, the Africa Twin Enduro Sports Concept is based on the Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) version of Honda’s recently released production Africa Twin. The concept machine boasts even more off-road enhancements such as an Xtrig Rocs triple clamp, a beefy aluminum skidplate and a Termignono exhaust system to add bark as well as bite to the Africa Twins smooth-running 998cc parallel twin.

Other mods include a dirtbike-style high front fender, a minimal windscreen, off-road-style handlebars and hand guards, Michelin Desert Race tires, a motocross-style seat and a liberal dose of carbon fiber to shed weight give the Africa Twin Sports Concept a racy look and performance that is most definitely sure to improve on the stock machine’s already excellent off-road capability.

Between the Africa Twin Enduro Sports Concept and Honda’s announcement of its 2017 CRF250L Rally, it is clear that the company is doubling down on its future in the Adventure category. The real icing on the cake would be if Honda could reach its goal of returning to the top of the winner’s rostrum at the 2017 Dakar Rally with its Monster Energy Honda Rally team.
