Honda’s first 2016 two-wheel model announcement includes its extensive off-road lineup, plus news of the Montesa Cota 4RT260 trials bike.
Honda confirmed its carryover CRF off-road motorcycles today. The returning models include Honda’s flagship CRF450X, CRF250X and its entry-level off-road models from the CRF230F to the CRF50F, and Honda also announced that the 2016 Montesa Cota 4RT260 trials motorcycle will be available in the U.S. as well.
2016 Honda CRF450X
The CRF450X has a desert-racing championship pedigree that includes numerous SCORE World Championships, and it is still racking up wins as evidenced by its most recent overall win in the SCORE Baja Sur 500. The big-bore, open-class single is popular with trail riders as well. Inspired by the CRF450R, the X-model offers electric start and a more user-friendly power character that works in a wider variety of off-road terrain. The gear-driven counterbalancer keeps the engine smooth, and the emphasis is on low-end torque and excellent throttle response and easy handling. The CRF’s Showa front and rear suspension and Honda’s Progressive Steering Damper are designed to keep the steering light and precise at low speed yet increase stability at high speed.

2016 Honda CRF250X
The CRF250X is based on Honda’s championship-winning CRF250R motocross machine, but it is packed with off-road-ready features such as a headlight, push-button electric start, wide-ratio five-speed transmission and T-ring-sealed chain. The CRF250X’s lightweight, liquid-cooled four-stroke Unicam engine delivers friendly power with a hearty punch. Suspension duties are handled by a 47mm inverted Showa cartridge fork and Showa-built Pro-Link single shock. Hydraulic front and rear disc brakes are standard fare.

2016 Honda CRF230F
The CRF230F isn’t designed for competition although even the most seasoned veteran could have fun on it. It is more suited for riders who want to enjoy off-roading while improving their abilities, and it is easier to maintain than a competition motorcycle. The CRF230F’s styling emulates its competition siblings, but it has a 223cc air-cooled, four-stroke engine, durable six-speed transmission and electric start in a full-size ergonomic package that should make it easy for adults and larger teens to start riding off-road.

2016 Honda CRF150F
The mid-sized CRF150F is the logical choice for riders moving up from its smaller siblings. Electric start simplifies the process of firing up the machine, while its five-speed transmission offers plenty of flexibility for learning or riding at higher speed. The CRF150F features a compact 149cc four-stroke engine that packs enough power to entertain experienced riders while retaining a friendly character that should endear it to less experienced riders.

2016 Honda CRF125F/Big Wheel
Honda claims that the CRF125F offers an easy-to-ride package, and it is available in both a standard size and a Big Wheel version that has larger-diameter rims and a 2-inch taller seat height, ensuring that riders of varying sizes can find a motorcycle with just the right feel for them. Both versions feature Honda’s electric start, 125cc, air-cooled four-stroke engine and four-speed transmission

2016 Honda CRF110F
Built with beginners in mind, the CRF110F is claimed to offers a great first-ride experience in a reliable package. Its four-speed transmission does not use a manual clutch, but the rider does have the option to use either an electric-start button or a manual kickstarter. A built-in throttle limiter enables parents to customize the amount of available power depending on the rider’s experience level. The CRF100F’s 110cc four-stroke engine has proved to be reliable, and help to make it a bike that could train generations of new off-road enthusiasts.

2016 Montesa Cota 4RT260
Following trials legend Toni Bou’s recent winning of a record ninth-consecutive FIM X-Trial World Championship for Repsol Honda, comes news of a revised Montesa Cota 4RT260, with updated graphics and a new fuel pump that improves low-end power. The 4RT260 has a reliable and tractable 260cc PGM-FI four-stroke engine. Premium, adjustable suspension helps riders “clean” the most technical sections and for longer trials sections, there’s even a removable seat that increases comfort and incorporates a convenient storage area.
