Husqvarna will once again field a high-powered squad of championship-caliber factory riders in FIM and Hard Enduro competition.
Husqvarna’s return to the top levels of off-road competition both in the U.S. and the world last season marked an epic reemergence for the iconic motorcycle brand, as it earned championship titles at both the AMA and World Championship level. Overseas, the company intends to maintain that momentum in 2015 with a high-caliber crew that will be contesting FIM events and Hard Enduro competition in the factory Bel-Ray Husqvarna colors.
Bel-Ray Husqvarna’s FIM Enduro World Championship contingent will be led by reigning FIM Enduro 2 World Champion and ISDE Individual Champion Pela Renet of France, along with his countryman Mathias Bellino and Manx brothers Jamie McCanney and Daniel McCanney, the latter the 2014 Enduro Junior World Champion. Husqvarna’s extreme enduro efforts will be once again be spearheaded by hard enduro legend Graham Jarvis of England and Alfredo Gomez of Spain.
Getting the new season off to an early start, the Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing duo of Gomez and Daniel McCanney will fly the flag for Husqvarna at the opening round of the SuperEnduro series in Gdansk, Poland, on December 6.
Renet intends to defend his E2 World Championship in 2015. The 2014 season saw him dominate the class as he scored eight wins and never finished off the podium all season. He then capped his fantastic year with the outright victory at the ISDE. Renet is anticipated to be the rider to beat on his factory FE 450. His season kicks off with the famous Enduropale du Touquet in France, January 30-February 1.
New to the team for 2015, Daniel McCanney will vacate his FIM Junior World Championship and step into the Enduro 1 category for 2015. Danny will aim for the E1 title aboard his factory Husqvarna FE 250.
Bellino returns to competitive action in 2015 as Husqvarna’s official Enduro 3 class rider, determined to fight for victory in the EWC’s largest engine capacity category. A race winner at this season’s GP of Sweden, Bellino has his sights set on success.
Jamie McCanney is the 2013 Enduro Youth World Champion, and he is hoping to add the FIM Enduro Junior World Championship to his résumé. Twice a visitor to the EJ podium in 2014, the younger of the two McCanney brothers will start as one of the favourites for success on his FE 350.
In extreme enduro events both Graham Jarvis and Alfredo Gomez will continue to represent Husqvarna. With the duo claiming victory in three major events in 2014, both will look to fight for the top step of the podium once again in 2015.
Robert Jonas, Head of Husqvarna Motorsport, said that the Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing team has very high hopes of success in 2015.
“This year marked an incredible return to enduro for Husqvarna Motorcycles,” Bellino said. “Through the fantastic efforts of our riders and team staff we were able to win the Enduro 2 World Championship in our first year while also securing the top step of the podium in three of the six major extreme enduro races. As a brand, our goal for 2015 is to keep building on that level of success and further establish Husqvarna as a major player in enduro. Once again by focusing our efforts on the Enduro World Championship, the SuperEnduro World Championship and all of the important extreme enduro races, Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing will strive for success at the very highest level.”
