Husqvarna Motorcycles will have no fewer than eight riders competing among the 38 countries taking part in the 2016 FIM Motocross of Nations, being held this weekend at the iconic Maggiora track in Italy. Among them, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing riders Max Nagl, Max Anstie and Jason Anderson will represent Germany, Great Britain and the United States respectively.
Arguably the most highly anticipated event of the season, for Husqvarna Motorcycles the FIM Motocross of Nations will see MXGP regular Max Nagl and US Supercross and Motocross racer Jason Anderson compete together for the first time in 2016. Representing team USA, Anderson will contest the Open class while Nagl, who recently wrapped-up the 2016 MXGP championship third in the final series’ standings, will race in the MXGP category for Germany.
Max Anstie will lead Husqvarna Motorcycles in the MX2 class where he will represent Great Britain. Looking to end his time aboard 250cc 4-stroke machinery with a strong result before his switch to MXGP class competition in 2017, Anstie is focused on challenging for the MX2 class victory.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Pascal Rauchenecker will return to motocross competition for only the second time this season following a year competing in the Enduro World Championship. Pascal is set to compete for Team Austria in the Open class.
Max Nagl (Team Germany) MXGP class: “Maggiora and the Motocross of Nations is a very special combination – I think this weekend’s race is going to be one of the best. Like always I look forward to the MXoN. Personally, of course I want to do the best I can and to try and fight for a good result in the MXGP class. We will see how the German team will do. There are some strong teams this year, and some teams that maybe aren’t as strong as in other years, so there is a lot to fight for. My focus is just to try and get the best starts possible and then push hard for the best result I can.”
Jason Anderson (Team USA) Open class: “It’s always fun to race in Europe. I’m really looking forward to the Motocross of Nations. We have a great team, so it’s going to be cool to mix it up with riders we don’t normally get to compete against. The Maggiora track is a special place and I can’t wait to ride it.”
Max Anstie (Team Great Britain) MX2 class: “I’m really looking forward to the Motocross of Nations. It’s such a special race and this year I think the atmosphere is going to be better than ever. Maggiora is a very unique track – I think the racing’s going to be great. With Tommy and Shaun I think Great Britain has a really good chance of a strong result. Anything can happen at the Nations, so if we all do what we know we can do, I think we might surprise a few people. Obviously, I’m looking for a good MX2 class result. I feel good so I’ll be doing all I can to help the British team and end my season on a high note.”
