The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team members Jason Anderson, Zach Osborne, and Christophe Pourcel were forced to make come-from-behind bids that thwarted their respective bids for podium finishes when the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series made its second stop at Petco Park in San Diego Saturday night.

Jason Anderson continued his streak of top-five finishes in the 450cc main event, while Zach Osborne, who was injured in a crash at the previous round in Glendale, Arizona, worked his way up to a fifth place finish in the 250cc main event. Christophe Pourcel was the lowest finishing Husqvarna factory rider, coming home 17th in the 450cc main event.

Anderson easily qualified for the main event by finishing second in his heat race. He got off to an eighth-place start in the main but picked off four riders in the 20-lap main to finish fourth. Anderson, who got his year off to a great start by winning the season-opening Anaheim Supercross, fis currently third overall in 450 rider point standings.

“I got a good start in the heat race,” Anderson said. “I didn’t get such a good start in the main, though. All in all it wasn’t a bad night, and I still got fourth. The track was super slick and it was tough to make passes, but I still made it happen. I’m just going to keep charging.”

Osborne got off to a second-place start in his 250cc heat and held the position to the finish. A top-10 start in the 15-lap main event left him with his work cut out for him, but he was able to make his way up to fifth place with two laps remaining.

“I had such a good practice and heat race,” Osborne said. “I got a 10th-place start in the main, though, and ended up riding really tight. I haven’t been on the podium since Anaheim II, and it’s starting to get a little frustrating. I’ll regroup and focus on Dallas.”

Pourcel was hampered by mistakes all night. He earned his spot in the 450cc main after earning a win in the Last Chance Qualifier. He then netted a 17th place finish after starting in the back of the pack in the main.
