MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (November 15, 2016)[[–The 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country  (GNCC) series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, concluded the weekend of October 29 and 30, with the AMSOIL Ironman GNCC season finale in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The event was deemed a “pink race” in honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, where various methods were positioned to raise money for the cause, resulting in a grand total of $7793.

All the proceeds that were raised were donated to the Montgomery County Free Clinic (MCFC), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free mammogram examinations, wigs, and support to those affected across the Crawfordsville and Montgomery County region.

“Everyone in the Montgomery County area is extremely grateful to the GNCC Ironman for the donations to the MCFC Faith Alliance Fund,” said Community Relations Coordinator Cheryl Keim. “With these gifts, our community will continue to benefit from the important services provided by MCFC such as mammograms, wigs and other services to those affected by breast cancer.  Besides financial support, these gestures provide hope and encouragement for a positive recovery, and of course we’re always hopeful that their educational efforts will encourage earlier interventions leading to higher rates of survival.”

Donations for MCFC were raised a variety of ways with the first being pink backgrounds from Stuk MX Graphics. The official graphic sponsor of GNCC provided specialty graphics for both ATVs and bikes. Front number plates resulted in a $5 donation, while a full set of front and side backgrounds included a $10 donation. Background sales stemmed a $420 donation. In addition, Stuk MX sold exclusive GNCC breast cancer awareness stickers for a minimum of a $1 donation that raised over $273 dollars.

Just before the ISDE World Trophy Presentation took place on Saturday night the custom pink backdrop was auctioned off to Adam White with Sauk Valley Builders Inc. Adam’s $3500 contribution was matched with $3600 from Racer Productions resulting in a total of $7,100.

Zakowski Motorsports conducted their own fundraiser which included t-shirts, special pink gear and autographed 4×4 Pro jerseys. Their initial goal of $20,500 was surpassed with a final total of $21,335. Orders are still being conducted for the t-shirts, and can be placed through sending the Zakowski Motorsports Facebook page a message. The amount will be split between the American Cancer Society, MCFC, Pink Ribbon Riders and the Spierings Cancer Foundation. Zakowski Motorsports is also seeking a fifth group to add to the donation list.

“At the end of Sunday afternoon at Ironman, we not only reached our goal, but actually exceeded it,” said Linda Zakowski.  “We raised $20,600 at the event, but thanks to Mike Chirdon and his company we were able to add $735.00 making our grand total $21,335. We’d like to extend a special thanks to GNCC Racing, ‘Big’ John Knox, Spider Graphix and all of our loyal customers that support us each and every year! Also, thanks to the race families, friends, survivors and families of those who have gone through this rotten disease, and thank you Ironman! We wouldn’t be able to raise this money without your support.”

JMR and ATVriders.com professional racer, Jarrod McClure, partnered with DWT to run their own fundraiser for MCFC. Raffle tickets could be purchased at McClure’s pit for two different prizes, and raised an additional $320. Heather Skripko was awarded the four DWT tires, while Bruce Miller took home the Champion in a Box wheel kit.
