JCR Honda rider Chris Bach gets stuck in the mud but still salvages a seventh-place finish at the Maxxis General GNCC in Georgia.
The following is from JCR Honda, which fields rider Chris Back in the AMSOIL GNCC Series Presented By Maxxis:
The first two rounds of the new JCR Honda GNCC program have been a very “wet” introduction to GNCC racing for the JCR Honda team. After a difficult opening round in Florida, which led to a mud-induced overheating issue, the team regrouped and began the process of preparing for round two, the Maxxis General in Washington, Georgia. Our hopes for a dry race were dashed, as the skies tore open Saturday night and unleashed massive amounts of rain, which turned the pleasant creek crossings into torrential, bike-swallowing rivers that left the course under water in most areas.
JCR Honda’s Chris Bach put in a solid third-place start aboard his Honda CRF450R and, after the first two sloppy laps, the Red Rider found himself smack dab in the middle of a five-way dogfight for the lead. Riders would stop every lap for goggles, and, on the third lap, a quick splash of fuel.
After the halfway point, Bach was making an advance on a competitor, and the two tangled bars in the slimy Georgia red clay. Bach got the short end of the stick and was forced to take evasive action to avoid a crash, and he sunk his CRF450R in a bottomless mud hole. The determined JCR Honda racer, dug himself from the slop, and powered his way back to a seventh-place finish in the XC1 class.
“Tough day on the course, but my Honda CRF450R kept me in the lead pack before rider error kept us from a top finish,” Bach said. “Looking forward to refining my race strategy and racing the awesome Honda CRF450R.”
Team owner Johnny Campbell added that after the last two rounds of wet conditions, it has been quite the “show” at the GNCCs.
“The JCR Honda team is working hard on all levels to progress this program to the podium,” Cambell said. “Chris has been an amazing racer to work with in our young team. I have no doubt we will be hitting the podium soon. Chris is working hard, and our Honda CRF450R is developing into a really great weapon for cross-country racing. Stay tuned in as we work hard to build a champion in this young program. Special thanks to Rockstar Energy for providing the Energy we need to compete in these endurance races and the canopies that kept the crew dry and thanks to Lucas Oils for supplying us with the oils and lubricants we needed to race in these wet sloppy conditions. Looking forward to next round in North Carolina.”
The next stop for the JCR/Honda team is GNCC round #3 in Morganton, North Carolina, March 29-30. Remember to watch GNCC live and archives from previous rounds on www.RacerTV.com
