Red Bull KTM’s Jonny Walker kicks off 2016 with a repeat victory in France’s Alès Trêm Extreme Enduro.
Red Bull KTM’s, Jonny Walker set the tone for the upcoming Hard Enduro season with a win at the second running of the Alès Trêm Extreme Enduro, in Alès, France, thus remaining undefeated in the event.
Walker returned to the top step of the podium despite facing a much more technically demanding Alès Trêm course and a different format this year. The two-day event included a Saturday prologue broken into two parts, with a an Extreme Test in the morning followed by a nighttime Prologue in the city. Sunday’s main event conssisted of four laps, with two laps measuring a approximately 60 kilometers each and two laps of approximately 40 kilometers each.
South Africa’s Wade Young was strong on his new factory Sherco, and he claimed the win in the morning Extreme Test on Saturday, but Walker got back on top by winning the evening Prologue. On Sunday, Walker had a steady rhythm and was able to close the deal for a repeat event win. A game Young finished second, outrunning Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Graham Jarvis, who was the runner-up last year. Walker’s Red Bull KTM teammate, Alfredo Gomez of Spain, was fourth, and Mario Roman completed the top five
