Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Maxime Renaux claimed the 2015 FIM Junior World MX Championship Sunday in Madrid, Spain.

The 15-year-old French rider battled with Great Britain’s Conrad Mewse in both motos at El Molar but triumphed on the open and scenic course with a perfect 1-1 scorecard.

Renaux travelled to Spain on the back of some hot form in the EMX125 European Championship where he has won three of the six rounds held so far (from a total of eight on the 2015 schedule) and leads the standings by 10 points over New Zealand’s Josiah Natzke.

At El Molar Renaux narrowly beat Mewse by half a second in the first moto and by the slightly bigger margin of 1 second in the second moto.

“World Champion!” Renaux exclaimed. “I’m so proud and almost didn’t expect this…a bit thanks to my team and sponsors, now onto Belgium,” he said.

Renaux is now focused on the Grand Prix of Belgium at Lommel, August 1-2, where he will try to extend his advantage in EMX.

“What an achievement for Maxime and what a season he is having,” MX Racing Manager Erik Eggens said. “We had high hopes when Max came into the Kemea set-up and identified him as a big talent that we wanted to take right through to the highest level. He is fulfilling our expectations across the board at the moment and we couldn’t ask much more from what is already a mature and very promising athlete. We also must forget what a fine and competitive motorcycle the YZ125 still is; our two-stroke is capable of world championship success. A big congratulations to Max, his family and Kemea Yamaha Yamalube for a great day in Spain.”
