The Husqvarna FS 450 replants the brand squarely back in the Supermoto wars.
The Husqvarna FS 450 returns the legendary motorcycle brand to category it knows very well, Supermoto.
Husqvarna has traditionally been a strong player in this dirtbikes-on-pavement competition segment, having claimed six FIM World Championships in the sport–more than any other brand. The FS 450 should give Husqvarna a good chance to garner a few more titles.
Based on the company’s FC 450 motocrosser, the FS 450 sports a lightweight chrome moly chassis with Husqvarna’s trademark three-piece injection-molded subframe and a cast aluminum swingarm. It’s compact, electric-start, 450cc SOHC engine is designed to deliver strong power, and Husqvarna claims it is capable of making 60 horsepower at the crankshaft. That power is transmitted to the FS 450’s five-speed gearbox via an Adler slipper clutch.
Naturally, the FS450’s suspension is sourced from WP. Its fully adjustable, 48mm closed-cartridge front fork uses supermoto-specific settings and delivers 11 inches of wheel travel. A fully adjustable WP shock rides in a rising-rate linkage out back. The rolling stock is what really sets the FS 450 apart from its motocross sister, though. Giant Brembo radial brakes and Metzeler slicks are standard equipment.
