CORONA, Calif. (August 30, 2017)–Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo, Justin Hill and Joey Savatgy are slated to race this weekend’s MXGP of the USA at WW Motocross Park in Jacksonville, Florida, racing in the MX2 class. The trio will take on riders from the international series hoping to prove their speed against some of the best 250cc riders in the world. Even with the forecast calling for rain, the riders are enthusiastic as the final race of the season draws near.
Coming off a hot streak in the Pro Motocross series, Cianciarulo is on pace to earn a top spot on the world stage. Although the track will be brand new to most people, the terrain should be familiar to the Floridian who has grown up riding the same soil not far from the track. He’s eager to prove himself during his first time riding the MXGP series.
“I’m looking forward to riding the series and see how different it is from what we have going here in the states,” said Cianciarulo. “I know they get a lot more track time, but we’ll see if that ends up being helpful or not. It would be great to get a podium.”
On the heels of his return to racing after suffering an injury, Hill looks to build on his solid top-10 showing at the Pro Motocross series finale. As a native to the rainy Pacific Northwest, Hill looks to benefit the most from the rainy conditions that are expected over the weekend.
“I was glad to be able to get a race in before we went down to Florida,” said Hill. “Coming off injury can be tough getting back to race-pace, but I felt good overall after last weekend and looking forward to closing out the season at the MXGP.”
After being forced to sit out the past two rounds with an injury to his ankle, Savatgy was given the green light to return for one more race this season. As a multi-time winner this season, Savatgy is ready to mix it up with the riders from the MXGP series and end the season strong.
“It was a bummer for me to have to stop racing after going on a roll there at the end of the season,” said Savatgy. “I’m excited to race and try something different, hopefully making our team proud in the mean time.”
The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki fans will be able to get autographs from the riders throughout the weekend. Check in at the semi to see when and where the riders will be signing. Coverage of the FIM Motocross Series is found on CBS Sports, with the MX2 race on at 3 p.m. ET.
