The amateur action at Loretta Lynn’s logged 23 total hours of live racing coverage, exposing American amateurs to scores of new fans
The following is a press release from MX Sports:
MORGANTOWN, WV, AUG. 20–It was a breakthrough year for the 2013 Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL, as the most prestigious amateur motocross national in the country was accessible to millions of viewers around the world. For the first time in the event’s 32-year history, live race coverage of each of the 36 classes was available to viewers across multiple platforms, including a live webcast on RacerTV.com, Live Timing & Scoring on MXSports.com and first-time live coverage on network television as part of the Red Bull Signature Series on NBC.
Held at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, a total of 21 hours of racing were broadcast live on RacerTV.com from Tuesday, July 30 – Saturday, August 3. Over the course of five days, viewers from 145 different countries tuned into RacerTV.com to follow the racing action at Loretta Lynn’s, resulting in nearly 348,000 page views on the website.
“The unprecedented live coverage on network television and the world wide web proved to be monumental for American Motocross as a whole, but we were especially thrilled to see how many committed amateur motocross fans tuned in to all platforms to follow the racing action throughout the week,” MX Sports Event Director Tim Cotter said.
The culmination of the week’s exceptional media exposure came on Saturday with the Red Bull Signature Series broadcast of the Loretta Lynn’s amateur motocross championship. The two-hour live show on NBC featured the final moto in both the 250 B and 250 A classes, along with multiple in-show features of past, present and future champions to enhance the storytelling in the broadcast.
“Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects is to see viewership numbers of an amateur motocross event not only rival some of the country’s most popular professional sports but to actually outperform Saturday’s broadcast of other major televised motorsports events is just outstanding. MX Sports is proud to be involved with such great partners and of course to reward the athletes and families that worked so hard to get to Loretta Lynn’s,” Cotter added.
Furthermore, MXSports.com experienced record-breaking traffic as Live Timing & Scoring garnered nearly 58 million page views with a total of 1,347,711 visitors throughout the week. Full results from the 2013 National as well as a list of all 36 National Champions are available online.
The 2014 Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL will take place the first week in August at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. For more information, visit the series website at www.mxsports.com.
