Bel-Ray Husqvarna’s Pela Renet of France wrote a new chapter in Husqvarna’s championship legacy when he won the FIM Enduro 2 World Championship title at the penultimate round of the 2014 FIM Enduro World Championship in Lumezzane, Italy, August 2-3.

Renet’s 2014 Enduro World Championship campaign has yielded six victories and 12 podium results to date. By clinching the win in Italy, he became the first Husqvarna rider to win a World Enduro Championship since Anders Eriksson of Sweden won the 400cc title in 2003.

Renet entered the Italian round with a comfortable 34-point lead in the Enduro 2 championship standings, so he merely needed to run near the front in order to clinch the E2 title. A second-place finish on day one and a third-place finish on day two did the trick.

According to Oliver Göhring, Husqvarna Motorcycles Managing Director, Renet’s title is an important first the new and exciting era for the company.

“In the most competitive class of the Enduro World Championship the Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing Team has delivered on every level, a true reflection of the hard work and commitment shown by everyone involved,” Göhring said. “Pela’s numerous victories and countless podium results have shown the premium qualities of Husqvarna machinery over and over again at the very highest level. As the first title secured in this new era of Husqvarna this is an extremely proud moment for the brand.”

Reinhold Zens, Husqvarna Motorcycles’ Managing Director, also reflected on what he called another historical moment in the Husqvarna story.

“As a brand we have a hugely successful off-road racing tradition, which unbelievably started more than 100 years ago,” Zens said. “The success of Pela Renet together with our Swedish based Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing Team continues the racing heritage of the Husqvarna brand. This is a true team effort, and a well-deserved result for all involved.”
