The following press release was issued by Milestone MX Park, but it is relevant to a number of Southern California motocross tracks, which are listed in the release:
The last change in practice entry fees at MX tracks was over 10 years ago, from $20 – $25. Minimum wage at the time was under $7 an hour and diesel was $1.50 a gallon. Labor laws, overtime and frivolous lawsuits are also causing the operations of a motocross track to continue to increase sometimes by as much as 50% in the just the past few years.
Just for comparison here are some other summer activities and their respective costs today:
Snow Summit MTB Pass – $44
Knotts Soak City (water park only) – $43
Raging Waters – $42.99
Disneyland – $119 for kids over 10 yrs old (one park only)
Many tracks across the United States are resorting to private rental day only to guarantee a minimum amount before they open the track and many of these locations do not include prep. In an effort to continue to provide seven-day a week access to local motocross parks several tracks have agreed to make the change from $25 per practice to $30 starting August 1st. Milestone MX, Perris Raceway, LACR, Lake Elsinore, Cahuilla Creek MX, Pala Raceway, 212 Land, Competitive Edge MX and Sunrise will all be $30 effective August 1st.
The Unlimited MX Pass which is currently redeemed at Milestone MX, Perris Raceway and 212 Land and was originally launched as Motocross FAST will also see a change, however the benefit of the pass will still be equal to saving if you ride 3 or more times per month. Starting August 1st all Unlimited Pass holders will be adjusted to $80 per month.
