Concussion symptoms will keep FMF/KTM rider Steward Baylor out of action for at least two weeks.
Factory FMF/KTM rider Steward Baylor will sit out the next two weeks of the AMA off-road racing schedule, which includes one round each of the AMSOIL GNCC Series and the Kenda AMA National Enduro Championship Series to recover from a concussion suffered during the third round of the AMSOIL GNCC Series earlier this year.
Baylor crashed at the FMF Steele Creek GNCC in Morganton, North Carolina, on March 30, but it was thought that his symptoms were not strong enough to sit out the next round. However, after racing the fifth round of the GNCC Series, Baylor struggled with blurred vision and decided to sit out for the week prior to the sixth round of the series. This past weekend at the Loretta Lynn’s GNCC, Baylor once again suffered from blurred vision and dizziness, and his team directed him to pull off.
“After seeing Baylor’s symptoms reappear stronger this time, we feel it is best that he double the length of time he needs to recover,” Factory FMF/KTM Team Manager Antti Kallonen said. “We are recommending that he sit out the next two weeks which means he will miss the next National Enduro and GNCC race.”
Baylor is expected to rest over the next two weeks before returning to the doctor for further evaluation and testing. If he has improved, he should be able to return to racing in time for round five of the Kenda AMA National Enduro Championship Series in Arrington, Virginia. The race is scheduled to take place June 1.
