7. Jack Milne
Jack Milne was one of Speedway’s true gentlemen. Along with brother Cordy, he rose to fame team racing in England in the 1930s. Milne raced in the World Championship at London’s Wembley Stadium three times finishing 10th in 1936, winning in 1937 and placing second in 1938. He was set to make it four in a row in 1939, but the breakout of World War II canceled the race. The World Final was not held again until 1949. By then Milne was back home in California. Had it not been for the war, he probably would have become the USA’s first multi-time World Champion.
