6. Shawn Moran
The younger of the popular Moran brothers, Shawn was nearly unbeatable at Ascot. However, he spent most of his career racing in the tough British League. He snatched his first ever world title by becoming the second American to win the Under-21 World Championship in 1981. The following season he won the U.S. National championship. In 1983, the rider the known as the “Miracle Worker,” astounded the Speedway world when he won the World Long Track Championship in Czechoslovakia riding with a broken leg! In 1990, he lost a runoff to Sweden Per Jonsson for the World Championship, but was later disqualified.
