Factory FMF/KTM’s Ivan Ramirez achieved a major career goal in winning the Kenda SRT/AMA National Hare & Hound Championship.
Factory FMF/KTM rider Ivan Ramirez realized a dream when he clinched the 2015 Kenda SRT/AMA National Hare & Hound Championship at the final round of the series on October 25, and KTM has released a video that shows just how he did it.
Ramirez’ championship marked the first time in the history of the AMA Hare & Hound series that a Mexican rider has won the title. He came into the final round with a solid points lead and only needed to finish 17th or better to claim the title. A seventh-place finish got the job done, allowing him to join friend and former teamamte, the late Kurt Caselli, on the AMA National Hare & Hound Champions honor roll.
“I really just took it easy and enjoyed the race,” stated Ramirez. “It was more like a long trail ride, just trying to play it safe and make sure I earned the title. I am so excited to finally get this title and want to dedicate it to my friend Kurt Caselli, who is the man responsible for training me in this series.”
Factory FMF KTM support rider Gary Sutherlin came from a bad start and was able to move into the top five before the end of the first loop. He quickly moved into podium position and was ultimately able to make the pass stick for the runner-up position. Sutherlin’s podium finish secured third overall in the series standings.
