At the inaugural Nitro World Games on July 16, American Freestyle Motocross (FMX) athlete Gregg Duffy made history with his winning run in the FMX Best Trick event. In front of more than 25,000 fans at Salt Lake City’s Rice-Eccles Stadium and millions more watching the live NBC primetime TV broadcast and global livestream, Duffy pushed himself–and his sport–to new heights by achieving the first ever double front flip on a motorbike in competition. As if that wasn’t enough, Duffy was going up against the best riders in the world in just his first FMX competitive event.
Canadian athlete Bruce Cook made the previous attempt at the double during Nitro Circus Live’s first North American tour date on January 3, 2014. But, Cook misjudged the landing, crashed hard, and in a split second his life changed forever. Suffering a broken vertebrae, Cook found himself paralyzed from the waist down.
The Nitro Circus-produced digital video, “The Quest for the FMX Double Front Flip,” captures all of the danger, drama and intensity of Duffy’s milestone feat, as well as vividly showing everything that was at stake.
