After winning at the previous round in Denver, Colorado, former AMA National Trials Champion Cody Webb claimed his second GEICO AMA EnduroCross main event victory in front of a sellout crowd at Comcast Arena in Everett, Washington on Saturday night.

“I just kept fighting, and Brown kept making enough mistakes for me to catch him, so I just kept pushing,” Webb said after the race. “It was insane. I saw those guys coming at me, and I saw the white flag, and I was getting really getting fatigued there at the end. Luckily I had enough of a lead after I got by Brown, and I was able to get away and sneak away with the victory. It was great to get a win here tonight.”

In the 12-lap main event, FMF/KTM rider and GEICO EnduroCross Series points leader Mike Brown pulled the holeshot from the outside ahead of the American Beta-backed Webb while defending GEICO EnduroCross Taddy Blasuziak crashed in the first turn and was mired in 12th place. With a clear track in front of him, Brown set sail in the lead, followed by Webb, while Webb ran second and JCR Honda’s Colton Haaker ran third after having to qualify through a semi. Blauizak moved up from 12th to eighth in the first three laps, and he made his way up to fourth place within the last five laps. Blasuziak had suffered a hand injury in practice earlier in the day, but he still managed to set the fastest time in practice and win his heat race despite the injury.

The action shifted into high gear with just two laps remaining, when Brown got stuck in a rock section, allowing Webb to close in on him. Brown then made an aggressive inside pass on Brown for the lead in the right-hander before the tractor tire and firewood sections. Brown dropped his KTM in the corner, and Webb moved into the lead, which he held to the finish. Brown was second, but the 41-year-old veteran didn’t seem to be too disappointed about it.

“It was a struggle,” Brown said. “I got the good gate there and rode good in the first half. I was thinking about the championship—I’ve got to stay in front of this guy and stay in front of that guy…If I had ridden the way I had in the first few laps I should have won it by over half the track. I feel like I have the speed, and the bike is great. I’ll just keep working on it. As long as I beat the guys behind me in points, that’s the main thing. I’m happy to get out of here with second.

Haaker went on a charge in an attempt to pass brown for second place, but Brown was able to hold on for second place. Haaker was third, followed by Blasuziak.

“It was a good race,” Haaker said. “I just rode to my potential today, which is pretty much what I’ve wanted to do. I’ve crashed in every main event besides two, and in these two I’ve ended up on the podium. I guess the key for me is just two stay upright.”
