Cody Webb comes on strong as the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series resumes after its summer hiatus.
Defending GEICO AMA EnbduroCross Champion and FMF/RPM/Maxxis KTM star Cody Webb scored the Pro main event at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California, Saturday night, when the series resumed after its long summer break.
Webb got off to a decent start in the main event, running third on the first lap before making his way to the front of the field by lap three, and he never lost the lead from there. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Colton Haaker also had to to push his way through the field during the race, and he moved into second place, only to be passed on the last lap by Factory FMF/KTM’s Taylor Robert. Haaker finished third.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Mike Brown set the fastest lap of the day leading into the night show. During the main event, Brown wowed the crowd and shaved seconds off his lap times by clearing the water pit, but he ultimately got snagged in the matrix section and dropped from second to fifth, behind SRT Racing’s Cory Graffunder.
With the win, Webb holds a seven-point lead over Haaker and a 20-point lead over Brown with five rounds remaining. The next stop on the GEICO AMA EnduroCross tour will be National Western Events Center in Denver, Colorado, October 3.
